We are on the airplane at the New Orleans airport with bad weather delaying our takeoff for Charlotte where we will make a connection (I hope) to London Heathrow and from there our connection to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The captain says we must be patient with Mother Nature and her lightning. Word comes almost immediately that we can prepare for takeoff. That is good; don't want to miss our connection to London.
So happy to be ready and on our way. I was so disorganized with packing that I am relieved to be put together and ready.
Part of my dragging my feet has been all the news and state department warnings about terrorism and the recent bombings in Belgium at the airport and a train station, not the best time for travel. Our reservations were set, and it would have been costly to cancel. Wind, rain and a rough takeoff, but we are now up and on our way.
As far as the terrorism, it is so sad to have to add fear to travel. The warnings are to be cautious and aware of your surroundings. Evidently, no one noticed anything suspicious at the airport or train station in Belgium. Sad world commentary, but it seems the terrorism motto is anywhere, anytime.
The pilot has flown above the storm to find smooth air, and the sun is visible and bright. I even see clouds with silver linings, beautiful metaphors all for a wonderful trip ahead.
